Family Friendly Films

Bryan and I are constantly giving each other puzzling looks as we hear and see the things that appear on TV these days. We are super strict about the things Dylan watches on TV because even seemingly innocent cartoons have tons of inappropriate things in them. So, I am always thrilled when I come across a good, family-friendly movie.

We spent the evening at church, with friends, enjoying Family Movie Night. We watched The Lorax. Not only did we have a very nice evening but the movie was excellent! Of course, there were a few words and references that seemed unnecessary but overall, it was terrific.

Today I am thankful for family friendly films. Its rare, these days, to watch a movie with a good message, appropriate language, numerous positive elements, and that's refreshingly "clean." The Lorax is certainly one of the better choices for families today. It also gives the perfect opportunity for parents to discuss with their kids what God expects of us as stewards of the earth.

This may be a little sappy but I'll say it anyway....the characters in the movie plant a seed that produces trees, which had become extinct in their community. Well, I believe the focus on family that used to be important in America, has now become extinct. Movies like this one plant seeds and, just maybe, more and more family-friendly, kid-appropriate, "clean" movies will sprout from this seed.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

nothing is going to get better. It's not." ~The Lorax
