A high that never goes away!

Bryan and I found out earlier today that a friend from high school passed away last night. He was only 31 years old and died of a massive heart attack. How tragic?! We looked at his facebook page after we heard the news and we were happy to see that on December 5, exactly two months ago, he shared with the world that he had given his life to Christ. Hallelujah! He said that he was high on the Holy Spirit, and unlike when he was using drugs, this high never goes away! He said he wished everyone could feel the joy in his heart!

Today I am overwhelmingly thankful for salvation. Salvation is a free gift from God, available to anyone who will accept it. Jesus gave his life on the cross, to pay the penalty for our sin so that we might spend eternity in Heaven with Him. We must believe that Jesus died for us and decide to turn away from our sins, from the things of this world, and genuinely live our lives for Jesus. According to the facebook post, our schoolmate found salvation just in time! How amazing is it that the Holy Spirit prompted him to accept Jesus as Savior, only a few months before his death and he did. Praise God!

None of us knows when we will breathe our last breath. It could be 75 years from now or it could be tomorrow. If you have not accepted God's free gift of salvation, I pray that you will. Instead of putting it off, consider doing it now. Life is so short. Knowing that you'll spend eternity in heaven is such a comfort in difficult times, for you and your loved ones. And, hey, if you live another 80 years, becoming a Christ follower will still be the best decision you'll ever make because the love of God is a high that never goes away!
