Come Sit Down

We went to the Big Daddy Weave Concert tonight and it was wonderful! I absolutely love going to concerts where the focus isn't on the band, it's on Jesus! Right before the intermission, they shared some very touching stories about children that live in Cambodia. These littles live in trash cans and are sold into slavery as early as 3 years old. It's terrible. Dylan was touched by the stories we heard and he really wanted to adopt a child through World Vision. We already sponsor two other children but we were so touched by Dylan's desire to show love to another child, we decided to at least go look at the table during the intermission.

While we were looking we noticed a little boy that is the same age as Evan. We already sponsor a child who has the same birthday as Dylan so we were debating over whether or not we should sponsor this child, who is Evan's age. Then, Dylan says, "Look, today is his birthday!" Seriously, this little boy is celebrating his 4th birthday TODAY, October 1st! What better birthday gift could he possibly get? We knew instantly that God wanted us to welcome to this little guy into our family!

When we got back to our seats, I was thinking and praying about our new friend, Sibongo, as the concert started back. I realized the song "Come Sit Down" was playing. The chorus really touched my heart because it says, "Come sit down, Rest here among us, say what You want to say, Come sit down, alive in Your presence. Lord come and take Your place. Come have the highest place." That would be my prayer for my family---that God would come sit down and rest among us. That we would hear what He has to say and become alive in His presence. As the song played, I realized that this is why God has wanted us to sponsor these little ones. They aren't living with us but they are still a part of our family! We may never meet them and we can't talk to them but we can give them the opportunity to know the One who created them. We can pray that God would come sit down and rest among them. We can ask Him to speak to them, just like we pray for our own children. We support these children and help provide for their specific needs but more than that, they know they are loved and cared for and when they ask why. they are told its because God loves them so much.

Come sit down, Father, Rest among our family!

Today I am thankful for the opportunity to sponsor children from Africa, Guatemala, and Swaziland. Because of World Vision and Compassion International, we are able to reach the ends of the Earth in Jesus' Name, even though we can't physically go to those places. We get to to say to these precious children, "come, sit with us, be a part of our family!" More literally, we  enable these children and their families to have clean water, have food to eat, get medical care, be educated, and learn about Jesus. What an amazing opportunity! I am also grateful that we can pray and ask God to, "Come sit down and Rest Among us!" Not just the family that lives in our home but also for our little family members that live thousands of miles away!

Lord, please come sit down. Rest among us and bring us to life in Your presence. Help us to hear your voice and believe what You say. Thank you for these little lives you've allowed us to be apart of. Please sit with them Father. Please rest among their families. May the feel Your glory and be forever changed!
