Jesus Saves

Deuteronomy 6 tells us that a relationship with Christ begins in the home. Parents should be setting the example for the children, impressing the love of God upon their children, and talking about God with their children. But what happens when that type of environment isn't available for a child? What happens when a child lives in an abusive home or doesn't have a home at all?

Today, our church was blessed to have visitors from the Baptist Children's Home. This ministry provides a home, clothing, food, house-parents, and hope to many young people and their families. As the group sang and shared their testimonies, my heart was truly touched. One of the young men came to live in one of Baptist Children's home locations when he was 12 years old. He was so malnourished that he was only 3 feet tall and still wearing 3T clothing. He had slept every night of his life in a tiny closet and didn't even have a blanket in the winter months. The Baptist Children's home changed his life. He is now 17 years old and doing well physically, educationally, and spiritually. This is just one of the stories we heard but as I looked at all those sweet faces, I became overwhelmingly grateful for this ministry and the way God has used it to bless so many children.

My favorite part of the service was during the song "Jesus Saves." As they sang, at least 20 of these young people came walking down the aisles of our church carrying large orange signs. Each person's sign had a very important date written on it....the day they were saved! My eyes filled with tears as my heart filled with joy for these precious children. Although they have endured so much at such young ages, God has turned their lives around with the help of the Baptist Children's Home. Each of these children have allowed Christ to become the most important thing in their lives. Each of their lives are forever changed!

Today I am thankful for the Baptist Children's Home. I have admired this ministry for years but until today, I never truly understood how great of an impact it has on the lives of the children that live there. God has used this ministry to completely transform the lives of His precious children. I am also thankful that God is continuously at work in all of our lives. That thought blows my mind! What an amazing God we serve!
Jesus Saves!!
