I'm beautiful! (is it even ok for me to say that?)

"The King is enthralled by your beauty, honor Him, for He is your Lord."
 Psalm 45:11

Have you ever read that verse before? I read it before but it wasn't until the past few days that I really started to ponder what that verse means. As I've studied it, I've realized what a precious it verse it truly is! Psalm 45 is basically a wedding song.  It is telling of a bride that is leaving her family and her home and becoming fully dedicated to her new husband. That's what it's saying on the surface, anyway. If you look a little closer and truly examine this passage, it's telling of Christ's Bride, the church, leaving the world behind and becoming fully devoted to her husband, Jesus.

If you're not familiar with the Bible and all it's symbolism, that might sound ridiculous to you but I promise, the Bible is the most amazing love story you'll ever read. What Jesus has done to rescue His bride  (us...the church) is better than any knight in shining armor could do! He created love therefore He knows how to love us!

So back to Psalm 45:11, the psalmist is saying to the Bride, "The King is enthralled by your beauty!" Just ponder that....He is enthralled by your beauty. Wild about you. Captivated by the thought of you! And if we remember that this psalm actually symbolizes our relationship with Christ, we realize that the King is enthralled with our beauty. He is enthralled with my beauty. WOW.

The one who created you, who knows you better than anyone, who has seen you at your very worst, thinks you're beautiful. Whether you're dressed to impress or wearing day old make-up and a t-shirt with spit up all over it, you are gorgeous to Him! It doesn't matter how much you've accomplished or how much money you make, Jesus is wild about you! There is nothing you can do to lose His love or earn more of it.

No, we aren't worthy of that love but when Christ gave His life for us, He also gave us His righteousness. So, Christ is able to delight in the beauty of those that He has made righteous! Don't you think it blesses His heart when we finally realize how much He loves us? And how much it hurts His heart when we tear ourselves down and forget how valuable we are?

You may know that I've been selling KEEP for a few months now. It's a beautiful way to share your story with jewelry. It provides a fun, beautiful way to keep the things that matter the most, close to our hearts. I just love it! I saw an idea recently that I thought was outstanding. As a way of holding something "extra close to my heart" I can wear a charm on the inside of the bracelet that only I can see most of the time, to help me remember something extra special to me.

I made this KEEPer to help me remember the truth that the King---the Maker of the Moon and the Stars--is enthralled with my beauty. I will honor Him because He is my Lord!

Today I am thankful for the truth that God has been teaching me....that I am beautiful and so are you! I'll be honest, I don't see that beauty in myself. I never have. Honestly, I feel weird even saying "I'm beautiful" because I fear that saying that makes me a liar or cocky or something....geez. Instead of believing what I've always believed about myself. I want to choose to believe that the King is enthralled by my beauty and I mustn't forget, He really knows me!! It doesn't matter what size pants I wear or how many bags are under my eyes (don't judge me, I'm raising three boys!). No matter what I look like or how I'm feeling or what I did today, I am beautiful to my King...now that is something to be grateful for!
