The Power of God!

This morning our 5 year old, Evan, kept talking about the power of God. Without hesitation, everything he saw, he declared that it existed or happened because of the power of God! I love hearing my children speak such truth. Little did I know, Evan was reminding me of something that I know, but needed to hear again.

During our church service, Pastor Brent shared that God is the One that establishes our homes, as seen in Psalm 127:1 "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain." When we forget that He is the builder of the house, we do things for all the wrong reasons and seem to wander in circles, feeling like we never get anything done and we're never enough (sound familiar?)

Pastor Brent also said, "If I keep my eyes on the Father, the Father will watch over the things I am called to watch over!" In other words, if I keep my eyes on my Heavenly Father, He will watch over all the things, events, people, responsibilities, etc that He has given me to watch over. He will equip me and help me and will not let me fall. WOW.

Sometimes being a mom is so stinkin' hard. Sometimes life is draining and no amount of sleep gets rid of the tired feeling. Sometimes the piles of laundry and endless to-do lists become overwhelming. Today I was reminded of why. It's because I stop looking at the BUILDER of the House. I start to labor in vain. I start to wander in circles. I'm trying to do all of this "stuff" in my own power instead of allowing Him to equip me and fill me.

Today I am thankful that everything, including my ability to do all that I'm called to do, rest in the Power of God. He hasn't even given me a list of things to do and then left me alone. No, He is right here with me, watching over the tasks He has given me, and providing the power I need to do all things. I can rest in His faithfulness! I can be confident in His power. I am also grateful that my Father is always reminding me; always teaching me. We forget so easily, our eyes get distracted so quickly, we start depend on ourselves so frequently. God is so faithful to remind us of His willingness to carry us. Thank you, Father!
