A Big, Big Day!

Today was a big, big day! For those of you who know Dylan, you know that he is a HUGE fan of all types of history but especially anything pertaining to the presidents! He can name all 44 presidents in order and tell some pretty interesting facts about each one. He has 4 specific favorite presidents, for very specific reasons. So, as you can probably imagine, going to Washington DC today was pretty exciting for our little Historian!

We rode the train into the city, which was little Evan's favorite part of our day! Then we took a trolley tour through the city, visited the Air and Space Museum, and walked the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Abraham Lincoln is one of Dylan's favorites. He was in awe as he stared up at the memorial. He even quoted a large portion of the Gettysburg Address because he figured that "it would make Ol' Lincoln proud."

Evan could have stayed on the train all day! He loved it!
My fellas with Abraham Lincoln!
For our last stop of the day we visited Madame Tassaud's Wax Museum where Dylan was able to see a life sized wax figure of each and every president. As we walked through the figures he named each one and told us something about him. The people around us were looking at him in shock! They couldn't believe this little guy knew so much about our presidents! We let him pose with each president so that he can make a photo album of all his pictures with his "buddies."

Here are photos with his 4 favorite presidents:

Dylan and George Washington. He considers him to be the most important American that ever lived.

Dylan and Abraham Lincoln. Dylan loves to quote him by saying, "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

Dylan and James A. Garfield. When he saw this figure he ran up to him and hugged him!

Dylan and Harry S. Truman. Dylan told me that Harry's motto was, "The buck stops here!"

Our family with the current president, Barack Obama

A future president and his very short Chief of Staff!

Today I am thankful for such a fun day in Washington DC. Evan really enjoyed the train ride and seeing the space shuttles at the Air and Space Museum. Dylan loved the Lincoln Memorial and "meeting" all the presidents. Bryan and I couldn't have had more fun than just watching the two of them enjoy themselves! It was definitely worth the swollen ankles that occur when a 6 and 1/2 month pregnant lady walks around all day in 97 degree heat!  I am also grateful for the ability to take this trip together as a family. These moments are priceless! Our God has truly blessed us!
