Delivering Sweet Treats....

We've been doing small acts of kindness throughout the month of December. It's been a lot of fun! My sweet boys have really enjoyed it. The act of kindness for Christmas Eve is to deliver sweet treats to our local Fire Department. Since Christmas Eve is already full of fun ways of celebrating, I was excited to have a friend invite us to do this act of kindness today instead! So this afternoon two other Mommies, me, and our 9 children delivered cookies, brownies, white chocolate party mix, and handmade Christmas cards to 4 Fire Stations. Out of 9 little ones, we only had one little girl in the group. I'm sure you can imagine how excited all of these boys were to visit the fire station! While it was a lot of fun for us, the fire fighters might have enjoyed it even more than the kids! They were so grateful for our spontaneous visit and the yummy treats. I don't think they get visits like these very often. They seemed absolutely shocked. They just couldn't believe we thought of them. At each station the reaction was the same. One fireman even said, "We don't even know what to say, thank you so much."

And of course, as a way of saying thank you to us, the firemen gave the kiddos a chance to climb in the big Fire Trucks! I was a little worried that the kids would get tired of going into the fire trucks by the fourth station but I was wrong!  At each station they acted as if they'd never seen a fire truck before. They were just as excited to see the last one as they were to see the first. It really was a great experience for all of us!

The kids loved seeing all the trucks!!!

Today I am thankful for such a fun time with friends and the opportunity to bring a smile to some of our community's bravest men. Our little ones are learning that showing love and appreciation to others can truly be a blessing to us as well. I am also grateful for the realization that fire fighters (and probably many others) aren't used to getting gifts of appreciation. I've always assumed other people are taking sweet treats or thank you cards but from the reaction we got today, I'm pretty sure this doesn't happen very often. I definitely want to make this something our family does more of! This is a great way to share the love of Jesus with our community!
