Child-Like Worship

Image
This past weekend I took my two youngest children to see one of their favorite Christian bands in concert. The kids wanted to stand on the pews because they couldn't see but were a little afraid they might fall. So, I stood a little in front of them so they could hold on to me while they stood and sang along to all their favorite songs. During the concert there was a time when we all sat down to watch a video. As we sat, I felt a tap on my shoulder from a woman sitting behind me. She had tears in her eyes and said, "I have been so blessed by watching your children worship." Her words touched my heart. I had been watching Allison dance but I had not seen what she was referring to with Tyson. When we stood up again and began singing, I flipped the camera on my phone around so I could get a quick glimpse. When I saw Tyson, who is only 8 years old, worshiping with such passion, I could barely contain my joy. There is nothing sweeter for this Mama than to watch her children wo

Can a Christian be pro-choice?

Yesterday I was a part of a panel that answered questions for a youth group. It was a great experience, one which I wish more youth groups would do. The questions asked by the students were tough and raw, but they were topics that need to be discussed. One question was, "Can a Christian be pro-choice and advocate for abortion?" It can be difficult to speak the truth about topics like this one but I feel its extremely important for us to talk about. So, can a Christian be pro-choice and advocate for abortion? In short, no. Here's why... There is a difference between someone knowing about God and truly knowing Him. Many people call themselves Christians, go to

If you’re like me, you probably feel as if your world is shaken from time to time. Circumstances and situations, the way others treat us, illnesses, financial concerns, and a plethora of other things can rock our worlds, even though we should be unshakeable because of our trust in God.  If something on the inside of us feels shaken, chances are something within us isn’t secure.  That lack of security is usually caused by our way of thinking. The heart believes what the mind gives it.  If we’re dealing with a lack of security, it probably means our minds need renewing. If we’re ever wondering if our minds need renewing, we can ourselves these questions: 1-What do I think about most of the time? 2- What captures my mind? If the honest answers to those questions aren’t godly things or heavenly realities, then we need to renew our minds. Learning to renew our minds and think differently is not easy. It must be intentional. There are times that I must remind myself that I am
